The family archive

This site preserves the family-supplied 2025 compilation in full, including its entries about living people and its unverified relationships. Those entries are source material, not newly verified biographies. We do not publish email requests or use them to add people to a public family tree. Please review the research notes when using the archive.

What a request collects

If requests are open, the form collects your given name, current surname, optional preferred and family/former surnames, existing email, desired address and optional backup, mailbox or forwarding preference, a short explanation of your family connection, and your consent confirmations. Requests must be made by adults for themselves.

Do not send passwords, identification documents, exact birth dates, home addresses, financial details, or sensitive information about other people. We only need enough context for a family reviewer to recognize the connection.

How a request is handled

Your details are used to verify your contact email, review your connection and address request, prevent abuse, and contact you about the outcome. Email verification confirms control of an inbox; it does not verify your identity or family membership. An administrator reviews eligibility independently and manually creates approved addresses.

Request details are encrypted before entering the website’s storage. The mail provider handles verification emails and a private notification to the family administrator. The administrator’s notification includes the details you supplied. No request details are placed in a public directory.

Retention and deletion

Unverified request records automatically expire after 24 hours. Verified records expire 30 days after email verification, including requests that were approved or declined. Rate-limit counters expire after their short operating windows. The website stores an HMAC-derived identifier for the relevant IP address or email in these counters, rather than the raw value. A non-sensitive issued-address record can remain to prevent accidental reassignment.

The administrator must separately delete request-related emails when they are no longer needed; website expiry cannot delete inbox copies or provider backups. Approved mailboxes, forwarding rules, and their mail remain with the email provider until separately closed. Hosting and anti-abuse providers may retain operational logs under their own policies.

Service providers

When connected by the domain owner, the site uses Upstash Redis for request storage, Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce automated submissions, and the configured SMTP provider for request emails. The website is hosted on Vercel. These providers process the information needed to deliver their respective services.

We do not add advertising or analytics trackers. Fonts and family-history images are hosted with the site. Turnstile is loaded only on the email request page when requests are enabled, and may process device and network information for its security check. Consult Cloudflare’s privacy policy, Upstash’s privacy policy, and the chosen email and hosting providers’ policies for their practices.

Using a family address

An address is issued at the domain owner’s discretion, subject to availability and a family review. Reserved administrative names cannot be requested. Do not impersonate others, send spam, harass people, or use an address for unlawful activity. Access may be suspended for abuse or compromised security. Changes to forwarding destinations require renewed verification through the administrator.

Use a unique password and enable two-factor authentication for a mailbox. Keep recovery information current. The domain owner controls the domain and can manage its mailboxes and routing; this is not a promise of permanent service or end-to-end encrypted communication. Keep an independent recovery address for important accounts.

Questions, corrections, or removal

Email-request support will be available through the family administrator once the service opens. After submitting a request, you can also reply to the administrator’s follow-up email. Ask to correct or delete your request, discuss a historical entry, close an address, or change a forwarding destination. The administrator may confirm your identity before making account changes.
